Kathmandu Valley and Nagarkot
Wednesday, 02 February 2011 06:59Kathmandu Valley Tour
Tuesday, 01 November 2011 12:51Kathmandu-the political, commercial and cultural hub of Nepal is the first stop for the majority of visitors to the country. In the medieval time, Kathmandu was an independent principality and actually it was known as Nepal before the unification of the country. The valley contains three fabled cities -Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Out of ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal, seven cultural heritage sites are in Kathmandu Valley that includes three Durbar Squares, Hindu Temples and Buddhist Monasteries.
On this trip, we explore the medieval palaces, temples and monasteries rich in arts and architecture. The intricate wood carving in the balconies, windows, struts and plinths are comparable to none in the world! We visit the narrow cobbled alleys, stop to visit the local artisans and chat with the locals and take some soft hikes in the valley rim to enjoy the mountain vistas.
