Trashigang Dzong
Trasigang Dzong Fortress sits on the top of ridge overhanging the Dangme Chu River by more than 400 m (1,300 ft.) and is one of the most picturesque sights of Bhutan. The fortress is accessible from the north side through a narrow road cut into the cliff.
As many other Dzongs, Trasigang Dzong is also founded as per the prophecies of Sabrdung Ngawang Namgyal, in order to establish the power and unparallel reign over the whole of the eastern regions. Built in 1659, the Dzong serves as the district administrative headquarter and seat of Drukpa monastic body. The Dzong has only one courtyard unlike many other Dzongs of Bhutan and includes several Lhakhangs (temples).
The fortress seems to be hanging in the sky and inaccessible when you look at from the bottom but once you reach the top, we will enjoy remarkable view over the surrounding countryside.
