Overview
The trip begins in the mystical valley of Kathmandu –which contains three former principalities of medieval Nepal-Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur-each contending the other in arts and architecture. We explore the temples, monasteries and former palaces of all the three principalities. We visit some traditional villages in the outskirt of the valley and also enjoy the mountain and panorama views at Nagarkot-a hill resort, just an hour drive out of Kathmandu.
From Nagarkot, we head south to the Terai lowland of Nepal-Chitwan National Park, one of Asia’s most famous game park . We participate in various exciting jungle safari rides such as elephant riding, jeep safari, canoeing and jungle treks. Most commonly spotted animals are great one horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, Sambar, wild boar and monkeys. If luck favors us, we may also see Royal Bengal Tiger and Sloth bears.
We continue our journey from the lowland of Chitwan to the glacial valley of Pokhara, situated in the lap of mighty Annapurnas and Mount Fishtail. Pokhara, abundant with lakes, gorges, and falls and Mountain View points is known as the capital of nature!! From Pokhara, we take 25 minutes Twin Otter or Dornier aircraft flight to Jomsom-the gateway to the Trans Himalayan region of Mustang-a former Tibetan kingdom. Mustang, a land very much like Tibet also maintains its Buddhist religion and culture. With base in Jomsom, we will take two days hiking excursions to the villages of Mustang which are the main highlights of this trip.
From Jomsom, we will take return flight back to Pokhara and make same day connection to Kathmandu. We will have a reserve day in Kathmandu at the end to pursue our own interests before we leave for back home.
