Begnas Lake Resort

Surrounded by pristine Nature, with gurgling mountain springs forming natural boundaries on either side, the Begnas Lake Resort spans a whole hillside of unspoilt forestland. To the North and the North-East are the great Himalayan snowy peaks, below which lie terraced paddy fields and the tranquil Begnas Lake, lending a perfect picture frame for the window of every guestroom. Surrounding the resort area are Chestnut, Orange and other fruit bearing trees interspersed by bushes of Coffee, Cardamom and flowering plants. The entire resort breathes of pure, unadulterated Nature. In this healing and life-nourishing environment, we have established the Himalayan Nature Spa that offers a wide range of classical Ayurvedic treatments as well as soothing and rejuvenating massages conducted by an experienced team of Ayurveda experts from Kerala

Deluxe (standard):

28 rooms with 4 rooms (5.5mX4.5m) to a stone cottage built in local Gurung style architecture on paddy terraces with sloping slate roofs. Two rooms on the upper and two rooms on the ground floor. All rooms have ensuite bathroom/toilet (2.6mX2.4m). All rooms have attached Verandah (4.6mX2.0m) for outdoor seating.

Waterfront Cottages:

4 independent cottages (5.3mX4.0m) built on high stone blocks in local rustic mud-house style accessible by wooden staircase. Roofs are of sloping slate. Rooms have ensuite bathroom/toilet (4.0mX2.0m). Verandah (4mX1.0m) for standing only but serves as extension of room by opening French windows. Built in a quiet corner of the resort close to the water amidst trees and flowering bushes.

Luxury Suites:

2 independent one-storied Gurung style stone cottages built close to the swimming pool area with sloping slate roofs. Each suite has two interconnecting rooms (each room 5.5mX4.5m); fully appointed Sitting room and Master bedroom each with attached bathroom/toilet (2.6mX2.4m). Each suite has two large adjoining Verandahs (4.6mX2.0m) for private dining/entertaining.

Natural Stone Swimming Pool

Take a refreshing dip in our stone swimming pool. The water here comes from a nearby mountain spring. Since this is a continuously changing water body, the excess water passes on into the lake. In order to preserve the aquatic life in the Begnas, we do not use any chemicals in our pool.

Yoga Pavilion

For those interested in Yoga and Meditation, we have a covered pavilion in a quiet corner of the garden that can accommodate up to 18 persons comfortably. For larger groups we use the garden areas. Private Sessions with a qualified instructor can be arranged only with prior booking.

Ayurveda, Spa and Herbal Massage

The Ayurveda spa at Begnas is managed by the Somatheeram team of qualified and experienced doctors and therapists. Treatments are through the scientific administration of medicines and oils derived from herbs, roots, bark and seeds of medicinal plants found in the Himalayas as also in the tropical forests of southern India.

32 Deluxe Rooms, 4 Deluxe Lakefront Cottages and 2 Luxury Suites all built close to the water’s edge with views of the magnificent countryside and the mighty snow-clad Himalayan peaks. All rooms are spacious and built in ethnic Gurung style stone-houses. Guestrooms are temperature controlled and tastefully appointed in teakwood, terracotta and cane. All bathrooms are large, attached and done in rough stone and slate with running hot and cold water.
